I got the opportunity to photograph the F1 track with my RC helicopter because a friend of mine is a real estate developer who purchased a tract of land adjacent to the F1 track in Austin Texas. They wanted to show potential investors that the property had a great view of the finish line. This was my first "job" and although I was doing it for free, I wanted to make sure I got exactly what they needed. No problem right? In order to get this shot, I had to hike through eight foot tall weeds and scale a steep twenty foot tall hill while carrying my quadcopter - luckily it is very light. It was a challenging shoot but I love an adventure and it really shows what drone assisted aerial photography can accomplish. It doesn't look like much from the air, but those weeds are tall and that little hill is steep! This is a shot I took while taking off. This is the kind of terrain we can fly from - all we need is a little break in the trees and weeds. What you don't see if the overhead weeds and the hill I had to hike through.
