 I own an Oculus Rift VR Headset that I purchased for a number of different reasons. The first thing I thought about when I heard about the rift was using it for FPV, but thoughts of it quickly went away when I realized how much latency there would be. So when I read this article about doing just this I thought it was really interesting and needed to be passed on. A big part of the fun of FPV is flying like you are in the airplane - transporting yourself to another place. FPV happens to be real while the normal use of the rift transports you to a virtual place. Either way, I can draw up many similarities between FPV and virtual reality. For example, look how my toddler reacts when he plays with the rift - It fools him completely! He has a similar reaction when he puts on the FPV goggles. So what does the book, "Ready Player One" have to do with drones and fpv? Ok it is a stretch, but this has got to be the best science fiction book - It is all about virtual reality and with the release of the Oculus Rift, it sure seems closer than ever. I have been pounding the table about how revolutionary the oculus rift is and you should try one as soon as possible. I would not recommend this book if I was not 95% certain it would appeal to the people that enjoy my blog!! Just read it.
