Marcus Andrew from Vice reached out to me and sent this video over showing some behind the scenes action from the making of a new documentary about Water. This uses ultra high end cameras on remote control helicopters and maybe quadcopters as well although I only saw a giant collective pitch heli. The director talks about the inability to get rental full size helicopters in remote locations as his primary driver to using this technology but I bet after using them he will rarely pick full size over RC again because as readers of this blog know, these kind of shots are only possible with small drones! They are using some serious camera equipment out there, like a Hasselblad 60 Megapixel cameras, a Red EPIC and an unreleased, Red prototype that shot the 5K resolution. There are more pictures and information at the creators blog here, but I especially like these two shots below because I like science fiction and these just look like a scene from a movie like that, but they represent here and now!
